    Description

    N3N-3 MLG Upper Post Cap
    One NOS (New Old Stock) upper main landing gear oleo "cap" or mounting post for the WWII Naval Aircraft Factory N3N-3 "Canary" trainer.
    No maker's markings or part numbers stamped or cast into this part, so unsure of the Navy stock number on these items. We'd acquired several of them in a large grouping of N3N-3 parts from a former ag sprayer who used this type pretty extensively in the 1960s through the early 1980s.
    Undrilled. These have never been on landing gear sets. Still in the "white" or thin light cad plating from foundry. No damage to threads. They'd been warehouse stored until last month in wire milk crates. There's dust on 'em from from storage and inside of cap assembly would benefit from a moment or two in the bead blast cabinet to clean 'em up. Very light rust on threads or internal bowl area.
    Looks a bit like something Tin Man would've sported chasing Dorothy toward Oz after her enthusiastic pumps of the oil can there in the woods... for good reason, too. This is a nice original part. We have multiples and encourage use of USPS Flat Rate boxes for transit as multiples can fit. Price this auction is for a single piece. Need more? Enquire. We'd like to see them end up with restorers and operators of the type.
