    Description

You are bidding on an EXCEPTIONAL example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe Legion Condor "
Ring of the Falange"!  This SPECIFIC ring is attributed to
Oberfeldwebel Ewald Sudhoff, who flew not only with Legion Condor, but also with II/JG77!
The Spanish Falange depicts the arrow yoke of the organization.
It is said to have been originally designed by José Antonio Primo de Rivera. He was the founder of the organization in 1933 and was murdered by the communist loyalists in November of 1939.
After this event rings and lapels were worn by many patriotic Spanish functionaries of the army, as well as Germany’s Legion Condor.
Many German jewelers made this ring, as it became a symbol of heroism.
The originals were finished both in Spain and Germany with the arrows and yoke in gold (all the modern copies are plain). This gold finish was quite light (almost a champagne color) and over time do fade slightly.
The main difference between the genuine Falange ring and the modern copies, is that the original German-made one features the "835" stamp inside the shank.
Oberfeldwebel Ewald Sudhoff started his career with I./JG136, and eventually flew during the Spanish Civil War, and with II. /JG 77, when the unit was formed in 1939.  In addition to this ring, some of his other awards include:
Spanish Civil War Campaign Medal (1936-1939)
    Spanish Cross of Military Merit
Spanish Cross with Swords in Silver
Long Service Medal, 4th Class (4 years)
    Eastern Front Medal
War Merit Cross with Swords in Silver (2nd Class)
    Ground Assault Badge
Irons Cross (1st and 2nd Class)
    Black Wound badge
Made of .835 German Silver, with a Champagne Gold Finish to the top, this ring is in SUPERB used condition!  it is
100% ORIGINAL (not a post-war copy), and as mentioned, belonged to Obfw. Ewald Sudhoff.  The inside is marked with the Silver Stamp "835", as well as an inscription that indicates:
    E.S. 223
    II./JG77
As it has been worn and over 70 years old, there are some marks and scratches due to the age, however all details and information are clearly legible.  This set comes complete with color photocopies of his Soldbuch Pages, Photos, various Award Documents (German and Spanish), Discharge Papers, etc.  A FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display!!
Please email me if you need additional photos or information.
