  • Condition: This sax is a nickel plated, (possibly silver, but I believe it is nickel), Buescher from 1926. It is possible that the plating is not original. The bell, bow, neck, and rods all look good. I can find no significant dents, dings, or major scratches anywhere on them or the body. If there was any dent removal or soldering, it is beyond the range of my perceptions. The neck has new cork and fits the body tightly. The pads are all in very good to excellent condition. I am pretty sure that the metal resonators are original. I am not an expert and cannot say with certainty what is or isn’t original.

    Description

This is a Buescher True Tone Eb Alto Saxophone, serial number 215494, manufactured around 1926. It is a rather rare nickel plated Buescher from that date, since Buescher dropped the nickel plating option from the regular line in 1923, and only offered it by special order past then. It is possible that it was completely restored with the nickel plating being selected in the restoration process. If that is the what
    occurred
, the restorer did an excellent job, since the engraving still appears sharp and I could find no deterioration of the plating. Please don’t buy the sax if originality is top priority for you. My description is simply my observation and best guess. The horn is solid and playable. It had only a small amount of play since its last regulation. I no longer play, but tested this sax with the included generic, vintage hard rubber mouthpiece. It did well top to bottom. The case is probably original with the sax. It is sturdy and functional, but does shows significant wear. The antique strap, the new Rico strap, cork grease, and reeds illustrated are included, so if you are a player, you’ll be able to start when this is delivered. Please study the photos as an important part of the description. I only do fixed price, “Buy It Now,” ship Federal Express to the lower 48 states only, and don’t schedule local pickup. Thanks for your interest.
