Description
Vintage Straight Soprano Saxophone made in USA Patent date 1915. I am not quite sure about the finish on this. It looks like it could have been plated and the plating is worn off or it could have been lacquered and that wore off. In any case it is brass. I used to play sax professionally until I got arthritis in my hands. The last time I played this horn it played well, but it has been sitting for about 10 years without being used. At best it will need adjustments, lubrication, and pads reseated, and at worst a repad. I am throwing in a Bundy 3* mouthpiece also. This is a brand called Palais Royal. I gather is was made for or by a band instrument seller in Grand Rapids Michigan by the name of J.W. York & Sons. I have owned this horn since about 1970 and I just used it to play along with Dixieland records, on the job I used my 1950 Selmer Super Balanced Action which will be up for auction soon. I am not selling as a business, I am a private seller so there are no returns or refunds. The buyer pays shipping costs and I will ship by the least expensive way I can find. Hi,
This is actually a stencil model 58M made by the Pan American Band Instrument & Case Co, vintage circa 1928.
I have not been able to determine who sold the Palais Royal brand.
Hope this helps,
