    Here we have a
    Vintage STANLEY DEFIANCE No. 1221 "Eggbeater" Hand Crank Drill or Brace
    .
    Drill is maker identified on the crank handle.  This single-speed hand drill has a very good smooth cranking action.  The finish on the Red painted large gear shows minor wear. There are no cracks in the two hardwood handles which still have their original red stain and varnish finishes.  The chuck will accept bits up to approx. 3/8".  Drill is approx. 11" long.  No cracks, breaks or repairs.
