Description
Pan American C Melody Saxophone with Mouthpiece and Gardbag Case. This instrument came to me supposedly in playing condition - HAH! I replaced all of the pads with original style rivet pads (no resonators) for a soft sound; had to solder the high E top post as well as the bell and bell brace; new cork. The unnecessary back side D key has a reversed spring as well as a tight cork. Gb trill key works. NOW it is a good playing C-Melody. It comes with a vintage C Melody mouthpiece, as well as a modern mouthpiece, neck strap, neck bag, and pad saver. The old mp sounds really stuffy, while the new one makes it a good sounding horn. I was even able to go altissimo. On a C Melody I typically use a good metal alto mouthpiece, anyway. My favorite is a Johnny Toxic 7 with a Bari Gold Star MS (makes the horn scream). The Gardbag is new (because the original case was too damaged to do the job). Look at the photos well, you will notice some solder blemish on the lower part of the bell and the brace area of the bell; the High E Post had to be extra clean and a small dent under the post pulled before solder could be applied; there is a slight ding on one side of the neck. No other visible damage. The horn dates to 1922.
