MartinMods Martin Conn King Buescher Selmer Lower Register Pip - For Any Saxophone
*This is NOT an auction for a Saxophone! Please read CAREFULLY!
*This is a replacement lower register pip for any saxophone. It is based on the acoustically superior design of renouned acoustician Arthur H. Benade
.
*A very common side effect on vintage horns of inferior register pip design, is an excessively SHARP D2-G#2 range. This is primarily caused by a mouthpiece mismatch, but can also be accentuated by poor pip design. A large chambered mouthpiece will usually make intonation more manageable, but will not eliminate problems caused by the register pip. The intonation as well as response in this area on most horns can be improved by using this little pip, but then again, the pip won't cure mouthpiece mismatch problems. For optimal results, address all the causes. If your horn has good intonation, you will most likely notice a degree of added stability and improved response.
*MartinMods offers an acoustically improved replacement lower register pip for any saxopohone, any size. Machined from a solid brass rod, it is made to fit your saxophone specifically. Easily installed by your local tech.

Reply from a fine Swiss bari (Martin Committee I) Adrian Pflugshaupt.
"Hi Lance,
It is done! Now the pip works and the result is awesome. Intonation does not change at all anymore when pressing the octave key! I still do get some hiss on D2, but I don't care about that at all now that intonation is very nice.
Overall I now have a very nice sounding bari which does also have great intonation, the pip mod for the lower pip worked great!
I think the horn got a bit more freeblowing (maybe just my
imagination) and the sound maybe got just a tiny bit of extra high end.
I'm very happy now and I'd like to say thank you very much!!
Adrian"
