Description
This Joystick was used in the T-33 and the F-80/P-80 Shooting Star (Built by Lockheed). The T-33 had its maiden flight in the late 40's and it served as a trainer up through the 60's until it was replaced by the T-38. Thousands of Jet pilots got their initial jet training in the T-33.The Lockheed P-80 Shooting Star was the first jet fighter used operationally by the United States Army Air Forces. The Shooting Star was designed and built by Lockheed in 1943 and delivered just 143 days from the start of the design process. Production models were flying, and two pre-production models did see very limited service in Italy just before the end of World War II. Designed with straight wings, the type saw extensive combat in Korea with the United States Air Force (USAF) as the F-80. This was America's first successful turbojet-powered combat aircraft, it helped usher in the "jet age" in the USAF
. The T-33 Shooting Star flew with a crew of 2 and had a top speed of 521 knots. It cruised at 455 MPH and had a range of over 1200 miles. Max rate of climb was 4,870 ft/min with a ceiling of 48,000. The P-80 version of the Shooting Star flew with a single pilot and had very similar performance specifications. This was no Piper Cub! If you or someone you know got their Jet training in this aircraft, this is a chance to own a piece of it.
